hi all,
i have an old winchester mod 12 takedown 12g, it's a very nice gun with much original finish and a cutts compensator on it. the problem with the gun is that when i rack the slide with a full mag it tends to try and feed 2 shells at once, could this be a weak carrier spring or an overly strong mag spring pushing the shells out to strongly? any idea's fella's? any help appreciated.

thanks

guy

I'm not an expert on M12's, but you may have gunk built up under the retainingspring that hold the shells in the mag. It may stick for an instant letting the second shell try to feed also.

A thorough cleaning of all the nooks and crannies around the receiver could solve the problem.

Cleaning first is always a good idea.

The cartridge cut off regulates the shells coming out of the magazine and should get special attention. If worn , the shells may be pushing past. Adjustment or replacement may be in order if that's the case.
