I've been thinking of making up some loads for my Ruger Vaquero in 45LC. After doing a bit of reading and research, I know that the normal lube on the cast bullets is bad. My question is what about the dry lube bullets? How well will those work with black powder?

thanks
Rob

The dry lube will do the same as the moly based lube, that is to say nothing. I use a lube made of 1/2 beeswax and 1/2 T/C Bore Butter. Melt and combine in a double boiler and set the bullets into it deep enough to cover the lube grooves. let it cool and harden and then push the bullets through. Keeps the bore clean and any fouling soft.

What about not lubing the bullet but lubing the chamber mouth like you would a cap and ball revolver? Use wonder lube or crisco or your own pet lube.
