What's the best way to stake the AR gas key screws?

Punch and 8-ounce hammer. Strike straight down with the punch held at a very shallow angle so as to displace metal inward toward the splined screws.
Look at one that's already staked to get an idea of how much and how.

Yep, that picture is straight out of the TO.

I would much rather have a factory staked key, they use a hydraulic press.

I am starting to wonder about the questions regarding carrier keys and staking?

It is the sort of thing you never mess with if you can avoid it, like when I recently rebuilt the front end of my 4x4 truck... :eek:
