I just found out today that Cablela's is looking into opening a store about 7 miles away from me.
Unfortunately, I hear that they don't sell EBRs, and if they open a store nearby I'll probably never be able to save up enough money to buy one :(

Yeah, they're opening a new one in the Utah Valley just south of me; supposed to open this fall. I'm sure it's going to be a constant, yet acceptable, drain on my wallet!

Don't know why they wouldn't sell EBR's. The one here in Michigan (Dundee) sells plenty of 'em. Last time I was there they even had a 50BMG rifle (didn't see the make/model) with bi-pod, scope, and camo finish perched neatly behind the counter.

The used firearm racks usually have more than their share of AR's too. I don't recall seeing any AK's or any other com-block EBR's. Usually not looking for them. I can tell you I've never seen a G3 on the racks there tho.

As for their Gun Library, I've seen LNIB Colt Trooper III's (6 of them given to a gun mag for testing then sold to Cabelas with a minimum of rounds through 'em) for $399 ea., Colt 1911's that were from private collections. Probably 20 years old and still in the box, unfired for as low as $699.

Other used goodies include Romanian .22 rifles (1911) for $65. A mountain of muzzle loaders, Browning A5's are not in short supply, M-4geries, Odd-lot hunting rifles (S&W bolt action in 300 win mag, that IIRC, was left handed) and plenty of .22-250 varmint rifles.

You hear bad :neener:

As Rupe mentioned, plenty of EBR's, at least in MI.

I personally don't like Cabelas, way too big for when I actually am looking for stuff, too many parents taking pictures of kids, etc. Not a shopping environment, but a great place to compare many products side by side. That, and I got a decent sized privately owned sporting goods store not too far away.

And last time I was there there were two employees working the enormous gun counter.

Plenty of EBRs in the PA Cabela's.

Evil Black Rifle. Refers to AR15s and the like.

And I did see a selection of them at the PA store back in April as already stated.

So your Woohoo has a little more Woohoo in it.

Doh! Now I feel dumberer. I have one, sort of. It's an evil black Mini. I also have an evil black tactical .308 and an evil black Glock, and when I go to the range, everyone stares in awe as I arrive in my evil black four-door Mazda. :D

I've heard of 'evil black rifles' before, but never heard the term 'EBR'. I guess sometimes two plus two really does equal three... :banghead: :D

No need to feel dumb about it. You did not know and you asked. That is how you learn stuff.

That is how it works around here.

So your Mazda is an EBA? Evil Black Automobile?

They just opened one south of Austin--plenty of EBRs on the shelf. A couple of EGR too (green!!)

Some surplus guns, like a 91/30 and SKS types as well. Don't recall an ak specifically, but a good smattering of cool stuff.

Doesn't have to do with the dragging tailpipe and the bondo, does it? :neener: :D

That's not the tailpipe.

It's the remains of the last guy that made fun of my evil black Mazda... :fire: :D

What city cracked butt?

Richfield, which is a small town between West Bend and Menomonie Falls.
They are in the process of getting financing and TIF grants right now, if everything goes well, they are planning on opening next summer.

So they sell EBRs? I must have had them confused with Bass Pro Shops then. I guess I shouldn't have thrown out the application for a Cabela's Rewards Card last week. :D

Edit: the only Cabela's store I've been to is the one in western Wisconsin, I don't remember it having much for used rifles, but then again its not a really big store.
