Beating the Dead SKS Rear Sight Horse Again

OK, I'm inserting a flat blade screwdriver into the space between tne rear sight and the rear sight mount. I'm pressing down really hard on the leaf spring. I notice that the tension seems to be less on the sight, so I push back with the screwdriver blade on the sight. No movement at all. I read somewhere that there was a pin pressed into the sight and that it should be driven out. Then I read that the two ears on the sight are an integral part of the sight. There appear to be slots on the inside of the slot mount which would allow the sight to be pushed out. I have the weapon mounted in a gun vise so I'm able to push down pretty hard. By the way, Im trying to mount a MOJO rear sight.
Thanks
By the way, this is a Yugo model 59

Does anyone have an SKS like this that they've had to drive out the pins to remove the rear sight?

Press down on the spring and back on the sight at the same time.

You could always try a gunsmith.....

I've never seen an SKS with a pinned rear sight. This is a luxury feature the Reds didn't use.
Here's a good method:
Set the rifle up on a drill press table, either with a vise, or by having a buddy hold it.
Chuck a 1/8" pin punch or a small screwdriver bit that will fit between the small gap between the front sight leaf, and the sight bed.
Press down HARD on the spring using the drill press quill.
With the leverage provided by the press, you will be able to feel when the sight spring bottoms out.
Holding the spring bottomed out, lift the rear of the sight slightly, and pull it rearward and out of the sight bed.
The only thing that might be holding it in place, is if someone else thought it was pinned and tried to drive a non-existent pin out, mushrooming the ends of the sight lugs and locking it in place.
If so, get ANOTHER buddy and have him hold the spring down while you use a brass drift and a small hammer to GENTLY tap the sight rearward.
DO NOT hammer on it.

As I recall, mine was pinned. I'll see if I still have the bloody thing or not, I replaced the rear with a peep.
The pin was covered over by cosmo, so it wasn't evident until I had tried to remove the sight a few times. It was a tiny piece located passing through the sight lugs and protruding less than 2mm on one side. It wasn't much, but it was enough to stop the sight from pulling out.
FYI, mine was something of an oddball lot. Most gas tubes didnt fit on it either (the original was leaking badly. Tried one off a yugo, a ruskie, and finally an overbuilt aftermarket. Only the last one fit)
