Has anyone checked out this new series of "knives" from cold steel? they are made of plastic and fiberglass. I was interested when they were making them out of just plastic, but I just didn't think they would stay sharp, they claim these are more sturdy.

Any personal experiances with either the new or older models?

i have no experience with these models but have played with plastic/composite knives a bit.
they wont stay sharp. dont buy them for knives that will see lots of cutting use. they can be good self defense weapons though. and those prices arent bad at all.
the fiberglass will make them more rigid, and hold an edge better(nowhere near steel though) the more glass they have added the better edge it will hold/take.
so far my favorite plastic/composite knives are made out of carbon fiber. very strong and holds an edge better than most nonmetallic knives but they are pricey.

These types of things have always struck me as stabbing implements only and about worthless for anything else. Better than nothing past a metal detector if you prefer being judged by twelve rather than carried by six.
