Got a new gun today - Picked up a Dan Wesson 1911 .45 - Can't wait to go to the range tomorrow to try it out. It has a big dot site, instead of 3 dots. I took a pic of the sites, but the camera didn't want to focus on the rear site, so this was the best I could do...

It's got a beautiful stainless finish.... (I swopped the grips to Hogue grips)

Nice. That's the first 1911 I ever shot, it was great :)

I almost picked up a Dan Wesson revolver, but it was only in fair condition, though the price was right. I just needed a new revolver for the long haul. But do give us your range reports from time to time. :)

I would personally like to know how it performs at 30 yards.

Well, my eye sight isn't good enough to hit at 30 yards anyway. 25 is pushing it, and I typically stay at 7 and 15 yards. Plus, 90% of self defense situations are at under 7 yards usually.

I have knocked down small steel targets at about 20 yards before. And at 7 yards, I typically shoot at the small scoring logo at the top corner of the sillohette targets. So, that's good enough for me. I'll never be one of those long range guys who can do wonders at 25-50 yards with a handgun. I'm satsified if I can keep it anywhere on the paper at 25 yards :p

Well, I hated the sights on that gun. It kept shooting low for me. Then, the rear sight came off completely when I was in the shop after shooting and I was asking about 3 dot night sights for it.

But, the rear dovetail is cut so large that Meprolights won't work. I had scheduled an apt with a guns mith for Monday, but after coming back home and thinking about it, I didn't see an easy way that the gunsmith could rework the slide since it was already cut.

While shooting, I had rented a Glock 34 and had decided it would be my next purchase. As I was sitting at home, I found myself regretting that I hadn't bought the G34 yesterday. So, I went and traded the thing back in and got the G34. I went and shot it at their range afterwards and am very happy... FINALLY :p

So, here is my new baby!

I already had a magazine that holds a flashlight (I got it in the mid 90's). It fits in my Glock 26 and now the 34. I know I have heard criticism about this type of flashlight rig here before, but I like it. And, I had an M3 light for a Beretta Vertec earlier this year, and it scratched the frame after taking it off just 3 times. I decided I wouldn't do that again...

Thanks.

I kinda wanted an OD frame, but they seem to be kinda hard to get around here in the G34 model.
