I remember reading several yaers ago about a company that took a 45. ACP and necked it down to something like .224 and chambered it in a colt 1911. sounded like a good idea anybody know anything about it.

Sounds like it would be more pressure than a 45ACP case or 1911 pistol could handle.

You're probably thinking of the .224 BOZ cartridge. It's a 10mm case necked down to .224". Development was done with a Colt Delta Elite, production guns were (are?) converted Glock 20s.

A British firm developed the cartridge and made a lot of noise about the super-duper, patent-protected, top-secret nature of the cartridge, claiming that no one else would ever be allowed to make or use it. Frankly, that sounds like a load of crap to me; I doubt you could get a patent for what is essentially a typical metallic centerfire cartridge case design. "Prior art," anyone?

In any case, it made a bit of a splash about 6 years ago and seems to have fallen off the face of the earth since then. Some Glock 10mm enthusiasts were attempting to duplicate the performance by using sabots in standard G20s. I don't know whatever happened to that effort.

kind of like: "I went out with this girl, you don't know her.. uh... and she lives in canada, shes really hot... uh.. and she joined the peace corps and isn't coming back..."

if it was really that good, I would think some one around here like Cor-Bon would be making it.

Hmmm. High speed .22 spitzer tip round out of a handgun? Sounds like the FN57.
