I was invited to a party by a couple of roommates, both who work at the local gun shop. One of them as an AR-15 that shots the .50 caliber Beowulf round.

Very impressive. :ar15:

When people first saw it, they said, "Oh, an AR."

The owner of the gun said, "That's no AR!" :D

Anyone ever seen one or fire one?

There was an article in last months Dillon Blue Press. Looks pretty impressive. Almost the same power as a hot loaded 45-70 or 450 marlin. I'd like one for my AR!!

Jim Brockman at www.brockmansrifles.com builds a handy little bolt rifle in this caliber using the little CZ action. Very, very nice.

I've shot about 50 rounds from an Alexander Arms AR-15 upper took me about 3 days to stop smiling.

No malfs, and did a number on milkjugs full of water. My only comment is that it may be hard finding bullets that are intended for that velocity range.

I've got one. Bought it at the Black Rifle Convention last summer. Just got a Russian Kobra collinator sight for it. I've only fired it for function testing as I didn't have any sights on it (flattop). I really like this upper though factory ammo pricing will throw you in the poorhouse very quickly. Luckily I bought a set of dies at the same time. Also got an empty brass catcher as the brass would get expensive also.

Yep I just got one as well... havn't fired it yet though. Just had 200 rounds delivered and will be getting the dies for it next. It sure is a beast though! Overall quality is excellent. I have the flattop upper model and mounted a world class Tasco on it. We'll see how long the scope lasts! But who knows maybe I'll get lucky. or not...

Well... not to beat a dead horse, but WOW! I took out my Beowulf this last Friday and I'm STILL smiling! This thing is saaaaweet. 325grn traveling @ over 1925 fps makes for some serious fun. I took it out to the desert w/ a friend of mine to sight in that Tasco scope. After some doing, we finally were getting 2" groups @100yrds. We then moved on to finding junk left out in the desert to target- The penetration on this rifle is awesome. We were shooting clean through 1/4" plates like BUTTER. In fact, we were actually busting rocks with this thing! Anyhow, a LOT of fun. More fun than any of my .223 uppers. Or at least refreshingly different! Just don't get your eye to close to the scope eyepiece! Seems the Tasco for now is holding up better than I thought. Now I really need those dies! Safe shooting! And don't hesitate on getting one of these!
