My Dad gave my his Browning A-500R. He just does not shoot anymore. Problem is,( ) I would MUCH rather have a Remington 11-87. Just personal preference. :D

I have checked around and find very little info on the A-500 or its value. The gun is is near new condition with 5 screw in Invector choke tubes.

Anybody venture a thougt as to what this shotgun is worth?

Probably around $450 - $500 in excellent condition.

I'll have to check the Blue Book later and post what it says.

Well - Browning does make a fine shotgun but the 500's are not it . The A5 is a great gun but the cheaply made 500's were not so great.

This is your Dads shotgun and you may get warm and fuzzies right now from your new remington, but you'll beat yourself up later. Keep Dads gun, save your pennies and buy the 11-87 later.

Family guns have different rules.

First one is do not ever sell it. The day will come when the memories of your Dad will count for way more than the money you'd get selling it.

And go shoot it. Take some doves or a duck over to your Dad that you harvest with it. Let him know he's appreciated.....

I agree on family guns. I still take my fathers old JC HIggins pump (circa 1961) out several times a year for skeet shooting. I do better with my sxs and my o/u but I get a good feeling just doing it. It is slao good for a lot of phesant hunting memories from when I was young. I know where every scratch and ding came from.

+1 on the "DO NOT SELL"

Long after your Dad has passed on to his next world reward, you will want to take his shotgun out a pop a few rounds to honor his memory and the good times flowing from those memories.

MNRIVRAT- What is so bad about my A-500? It was my 1st gun I ever bought and I love it. I don't use it as much anymore because as a sling-o-matic, I get tired of picking shells off the ground. But what makes it so inferior to the venerated A-5?
