Heh heh heh. :D In six days I'm going on annual leave for almost the entire month of September. In seven days I'll be at a secret, undisclosed location somewhere in the middle of GMU 13 in the yearly pursuit big old ugly, freezer-fillin' moose....and any other legal targets of opportunity that are good eatin'. Then it's off to GMU 25C north of Fairbanks for caribou. :neener:
I'll get back and take the second week of October off for brown bear season. This'll probably be my last opportunity for a coastal brown in the forseeable future. I'd like to leave here with a rug.
Hopefully I'll have some pictures to post.

Envy, envy, envy. Envy, envy, envy. Envy, envy, envy. Envy, envy, envy, envy. Envy, envy, envy.

Did I mention I envy you and your opportunity?

Good fortune! Enjoy! Have a safe and profitable hunt!

mee toooo!!!! except we'll be in 20 or 21, i forget which.

now folks, this will be my first hunt, and i fully expect to come back a full fledged alaska native. i'm really gonna get back to my roots. well, as close to my roots as going on a moose hunt with a bunch of white guys in a motorhome will get me.

unfortunately due to family illnesses and general laziness i haven't been able to get any loads for the 8mm, so i'll get that sighted in with some new production ammo and it will be a backup to my landlords (one of the 'whiteys' who will be showing me the ropes) ruger 338 winmag.

Caribou make nice sausage. Moose steak is not bad eatin' neither.
May I have the leftovers?

Been to Alaska only once, wasn't huntin'. Want to get back...huntin' or not.
I have a spot on my wall reserved for a truly magnificent Elk or Moose. Never had any desire to hang any other head on my wall......but have a deep resolve to put one of those up there....and the rest of them in my belly.

I've got caribou and moose hunting, along with salmon, and halibut fishing in AK on my definate list of "things to do before I die." Maybe in a few years, after recovering from the 26 day trip to New Zealand this Christmas I'll be able to do that. Hmmm, fly to Oregon and drop the kids off with their grandparents, then fly on up to AK. Sounds like a good plan to me. Spiff or stevelyn - think you could show me where to go?

You must have a walk-in if a whole moose will fit in it...

Good luck.

Do you need my address to send some jerky to? ;)

Tomorrow is day 1 for me in the field. Bow season kicks in and I'm after Mr. Mullie. :D
