Hey folks:

I have a Beretta 40 cal I bought over ten years ago. I used it as my standard carry sidearm when I was a badge. Great gun. I do not use it that much except to re-oil it twice a year. I was toying around with it the other day and got to thinking about its trigger. I was never all that thrilled with it (stock) -- not that bad, but a littel long in the draw some slop in the release.

What is your opinion of the Modle 96 triggers, past and present?

I live near Houston, TX and was wondering what kind of investment it would be to have a gunsmith refine it a little.

Any specific ones that you can recommend (also want to do something with my Ruger Vaquero)

Get ahold of Teddy Jacobsen down in Sugarland. He runs his own web site.

He is a true "Wizard" of triggers and does them exceptionally well. Be Polite, and be preparted to listen. His work is well worth the side issues.

Steel...this may/may not be enough for you, but you might want to just install a "D" hammerspring (the stock 18 lbs hammerspring in the Beretta DAO models vs. the 20 lbs hammerspring in the F/FS/G models) in your 96.

I do it with all my Beretta 92/96s. Takes 5 minutes.
Drops DA weight approx 4 lbs and SA weight approx 1-2 lbs...instantly.
Best

PS. If this isn't what your looking for, Peter gave great advice. Teddy isn't going to win any "Sunshine" awards, but he does exceptional work.

It's a damn shame Ernest Langdon stopped working his magic on Berettas (excellent gentleman to do business with BTW). He turned my 96G Elites trigger into a work of art. Added his short trigger. The Beretta was always a wee bit to long for my medium sized hands. The short trigger made it perfect. Mr. Jacobson is known for his excellent work on Sigs. If he's half as good with Berettas he can turn your 96's trigger into a "silk purse".
It really is like having a new gun when the trigger is done right.

BTW,
new trigger and all was $125.00. The D spring by itself does help alot. May be enough for you. Best of luck.
