Anyone know of a good scope mount for a SAR 1 that will sit center and not off to the left? I have a cheap scope like $40.00, don't wanna spend a fortune on the mount.

K-VAR has some. I've never used them, so I cant vouch for them. TAPCO also shows one.

I will vouch for the Ultimak and highly recommend it. It works great, with either dot sight or scout type scopes. I have one on my SAR1 with a red dot.

I also like the Ultimak mount, it's what I have on my SAR 1. The Ultimak and a red dot sight is all you need.

Thanks! This is my first rifle, I bought it off of a friend and he gave me four mags, optics, scope, Ace folding stock, original stock, some ammo, sling. The scope is just a cheap scope (Bushnell banner dusk & dawn) but the mount he had was off to the left, and I'm left handed so it dosen't work for me.
AK103K where do you shoot AK's? I live in Rutledge (Delaware Co.) not many places to shoot around here. I usually go to Elk Neck State Forest Range in NE Maryland or Ommenlanden in Northern Delaware.

I live in upper Bucks county and shoot mostly at a club near Doylestown.

There's a club close by me in Aston but I hear they have alot of stupid rules like only 3-5 rds. in a mag, no double taps etc. And the indoor ranges are just to expensive to spend a decent amount of time in.

Most ranges are like that these days and unless you know someone with property, it can be pretty tough to find a place that you can do what you want. It gets worse when you have range officers who's only power in life is being one, and they tend to nit pic you to death. Liability and closing in suburbia are probably more the big reasons for the clubs worries and restrictions. Its starting to happen up here in mostly rural upper Bucks Co. The yuppies have arrived and hunting and shooting access is drying up quickly. About time to move on for me. Good luck finding a place down near you.

I live in Wilmington DE and shoot at Atglen sportsman's club in Atglen PA. 500 meter rifle range. It's about 40 minutes down Route 41 from me.
No rediculous rules and usually there's no one else at the range. They frown on too much rapid fire, however.

Where's that at Chester Co.? Is it open to the public? I'm pretty close to you, I work at the steel mill in Claymont. Elk Neck isn't bad, $10.00 to shoot all day, no range officers, rules ain't to bad. The only problem is the guys who fire a shot, then have a smoke, clean there rifle, bulls*it with each other, watch evrything you do looking for something to nit pic with you about.
Ommenlanden isn't to bad either but the range officers are a PIA.

Not sure what county. It's pretty close to the lancaster outlets, though. Here is a link:

Never shot at Elks Neck. Where is it at?
I used to go to Omalanden weekly back when I was really into pistol shooting. Bob is one of the range masters, and he's really cool once you get to know him. He used to let me have the side range to myself when it wasn;t to busy so I could do CCW drills, etc. I haven't been there in a while, though. A 50 yard rifle range where you can only shoot paper doesn't really get me excited. Between working full-time, completing my MBA part-time, riding motorcycles, and going to the beach on the weekends, I don't get much time to shoot anymore. Maybe once a month if I'm lucky.

That freedom optics mount, while a good mount, is a bit offset to the left. It doesn't sit exactly over the centerline. It doesn't become a problem till you get past 100yds or so.
