No more BP to under 21???

If this is the ATF pulling this, I'm going to be very annoyed. I tried to purchase BP (3Fg for a small smoothbore) and I was told that I needed to be 21. I bought the dang pistol now, I'm 18. I can buy the chemicals to make BP, but not the BP itself? What?
Is this just a shop policy, or is this the ATF? PowderHouse told me the same thing...

Make your own! Just be careful and dont blow yourself up. Many young men who dabble with explosives end up maimed or dead.

I hope that isn't the case. I can't answer your question, but hopefully you can find out for sure.
I wouldn't try to make my own: it is dangerous. And this is one of those things that is dangerous to people besides yourself: such as starting a house fire..................
When I was eighteen I was already a bona fide gun enthusiest (sp). I owned a bunch of guns including a .22 handgun, but I really wanted a bigger handgun. Since I wasn't old enough to buy one, I bought a Ruger Old Army which I shot and enjoyed for several years. Way back then, I didn't have any problem buying black powder but that was 25 years ago.

I had to fill out one of those things swearing to be 21 and provide a copy of my drivers license to order black powder. Don't know whose policy, the store, the government, the insurance company or the spirit of Carry Nation urinating on our upturned faces.

Yes not a good idea, but I'd like to know how just in case I need it

Use a substitute like Pyrodex, Triple 7, or Goex Pinnacle.
Blackpowder is classified as an explosive and the BATFEces tend to get their shorts in a bunch about it.

I really like authentic BP, though...
Guess I'll have to get my neighbor to buy it for me, then give it as a gift. Would that be legal or not?
