Looking for facts and\or opinions on where DU really stands on RKBA issues. All I can find on their site is:
"...Ducks Unlimited, Inc. does not direct its resources toward the influence of firearm or hunting legislation unless the legislation is clearly and directly related to waterfowl habitat conservation."
and this on hunting:
"... We support waterfowl hunting, when conducted in an ethical and sustainable manner, as a legitimate and acceptable use of a renewable resource."
While I understand that they are a conservation organization that appears to support hunting, my question is what’s the ratio of conservation-to-hunting? If hunting is threatened via the never-ending assault on the 2nd amendment where are they going to come down? The quote above regarding firearm or hunting legislation is a well crafted marketing statement. Have they ever been put in a position where legislation “clearly and directly” was “related to waterfowl habitat conservation” and they had to lay their cards?
My liberal detector sensor is a bit past 50% when I read stuff like this. It’s naturally more sensitive when approaching conservation\environmental organizations anyways. My suspicion is that they aren’t going to be real fond of me if I show up at a DU dinner wearing my Bushmaster shirt. :D
Is this a club for liberals that believe a properly registered over-under is all the gun you’ll ever need (or the government might let you have?)
I did a search on THR for DU and found a thread regarding getting kicked off the DU site. I’m interested in what the arguments were and why they might kick someone off.
I see a fair number of vehicles (okay, trucks :) ) around with DU stickers on them and no NRA sticker. Very few with both. Is there something I should know??
Thanks,
Abe
