As a shooter and a fan of first person shooter computer games, I'm greatly looking forward to this offering from Bethesda: Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth (http://www.callofcthulhu.com)

It's a period piece set in the 1920s. A lot of interesting, period correct weapons have been shown in screenshots. Observe:

Colt Model of 1911

Springfield M1903

Colt .38 revolver

Personally, I'm hoping especially to see a big bore classic sixgun, like a Colt New Service .45 or even an M1917.

From the game's FAQ:

Q. What weapons are in the game?

A. Call Of Cthulhu features a wide array of weapons, from the basic to the obscure and wonderful. The weapons of the 1920s are faithfully reproduced in Call Of Cthulhu and Jack can use such weapons as the Colt Revolver, the Mauser and the Springfield m1903. In addition to these, there are also more mystical weapons to be found, in deep dark places, but we'll leave these for you to find out about...

Rule 3 violation! ;)

"Rule 3" didn't exist in 1922... :neener:

In any case, that's forgivable. That'd make the animation for the player's virtual hands all that much more complicated.

Hm. Just looks like another Saturday night in my neck of the woods. And, yes, I take the "zombie" threads dead seriously.

Oh yeah, and JMB didn't NEED safety rules back then!

Looks like fun. I assume you fight Cthulhu at the end of the game?

nextjoe, fight the Big C? Good luck with that. :D

Looking at the screen shots, I'm betting the story has some Innsmouth in it.

Cool. HP Lovecraft scared the living heck out of me when I was a kid.

I've gotta try it! I was a huge fan of the roleplaying game by Chaosium when I was in college (a lot of years ago).
