I bought some factory sig mags and they were almost $40.00. I think they are actually stamped mec gar on the side.

My question is, I can get Mec gar mags for $20.00 and I was wondering if they are the same mag with out the Sig stamp on it?

Are the Mec gars and Sig factory mags the same thing?

Yes ,Mec Gar manufactures magazine for all European Firearms makers. I just purchased some Mec Gar 13 rounders for my Browning Hi power and they are identical to the Mag that came with the gun. \
Great product with a reasonable price.

Mec-Gar makes both Sig factory magazines and after-market magazines for Sigs.

Both types of magazines use the same tubes, but different springs and followers. The after-market magazines have a larger capacity than the factory magazines (i.e. 15-round 226 factory magazines vs. 17-round after-market magazines).

So you can pay a lot for factory magazines or a lot less for the same quality after-market magazines by the same manufacturer and also get larger capacity.

My after-market Mec-Gars work just as reliably as my factory Mec-Gars.

I have to agree with gc70. It really depends on the original lot. I've got Mec-Gars that are superior in every way to original factory issue magazines. I've, also, seen Mec-Gars that are clearly inferior to standard issue. Handle them before you buy, you should be able to tell the difference. ;)
