I have twice heard on the local conservative radio station
that uranium was found stored in a swimming pool in Iraq.
I have searched on the net and pphhhffffft...nothing.
Has anyone else heard this?
I would think that if it were true, the press would be all over it.
Well, maybe not.It would prove the President right!

There is ALOT of uranium in Iraq... in the form of the DU ammunition we pumped into the place back in 1991. :D

It wouldn't surprise me if they still have at least some of the reactor fuel that they were going to use in the French reactor that Israel too out, but they'd need that reactor to re-process it into usable bomb material.

but they'd need that reactor to re-process it into usable bomb material Yeah, they could never do it in a more primitive and secretive fashion the way Oppenheimer et al. did. They would need that reactor.

Should've been more specific, and said "a reactor"; Hussein would give one of his nuts and both of yours to get a bomb, but there's no way he'd be able to do it in secret at this point. During WW2, each side KNEW the other was working desperately on the bomb, but that knowledge didn't do them any good because they couldn't do anything effective about it.

Sure, Iraq has a uranium mine, the Akashat Mine, some 420 klicks west of Bagdad. The Federation of American Scientists has more info at this website. (http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/iraq/facility/akashat.htm)
'Course it has to be refined into weapons grade Uranium. Hopefully none of that is in Iraqi hands yet but it'd be no surprise if they had a little. Ideally much less than critical mass.
