Whats out there for a laser and light combo for handguns? Price? Manufacturer? where to buy?

Looking to put it on a Kimber TLE.

I use a Streamlight M6 ($250.00) on my Warrior (basically the same as your TLE/RL). I had a TLR/RL but sold it. I wanted the series 1 (70) and the internal extractor. The light WILL wear off the black oide finish within a few installation/extractions. The KimPro finish, while more resiliant, is so horridly slippery that I actually wish I had black oxide like the TLE/RL. What is best about the light/laser combination is you have the other hand available for reload if need. Holding a light, what do you do? Rail is awesome, isn't it? By the way, the internal laser will NOT work on your rail model 1911s because the frame is too thick. The Surefire company also makes a combination model, I think. Good luck, let me know what you think.

Lonnie Luddite sez: DON'T RELY ON A LASER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WILL FAIL YOU WHEN YOU NEED IT MOST!!!!!!!!!!!!! LASERS ARE ONLY FOR TRAINING!!!!!!!
Yadda, yadda, yadda! I'll bet they said the same thing when the first adjustable rear sight was put on a handgun!

I'd go with a surefire light of some kind under the barrel, and a set of Crimson Trace Lasergrips. It's gonna cost a little more (somewhere around $500 I think), but you don't lose the laser as soon as you detach the light.

Just my thoughts.

Send me a PM w/ an email address and I'll send you a few pictures.

That's not a half bad l'il plan either. Too bad crimson trace still hasn't made grips for the CZ75. But in the OP's case, a 1911 - they have those, both full-size and officer's grip, IINM.

I don't use a light on the gun but I do have the Crimson Trace grips on a S&W Mod 36, a Kimber Tactical Ultra and a S&W Mod 14.

I think so much of it I'd buy 3 more if CT made it for the guns, Makarov for instance.

I would check out the XML 2, comming out here in the next couple of months. If you have seen the Insight XML (Xtreme Mini Light) its the same thing, but with an added laser. Fits my XD Sub-Compact perfect. This is only a 40 Lume light, so its not a big dog or anything. About $140
