Light mount for a AK

I have a M3 tactical light for my Glock and my HD shotgun and was wondering if the Galil style handguard with rails would work with the M3 on my SAR 1? I am going to change my handguard anyway because the top handguard is a fabricated piece of stainless steel made to look like a ventilated handguard and the paint is wearing off.

For my money the best handguard with rails for the AK is the TDI. It is very well made and not terribly expensive. I got mine from Brownells at their dealer price through a gunsmith friend.

The side rails place the M3 right where you would want it, and the bottom rail works well with a verticle grip on my AK-103. From what I have seen the Tapco stuff seems not as well made, but I have only handled them at a gun show.
