Volunteering and CHL at George R Brown in Houston

I'm signed up to volunteer at the George R Brown Center tomorrow and I most certainly wish to CCW my S&W .38. (As I always do) I've heard that the center is posted with a 30.06 sign, but the center is owned by the municipal govt which precludes it being a legal posting.
However, looking at the center's official rulebook (http://www.houstonconventionctr.com/meeting_planners/Rules&Regulations.pdf - Page 10) it states that "possession of firearms is forbidden in the Facility with the exception of the following: <snip> (iii) individuals licensed by the State of Texas to carry concealed handguns"
I'll be volunteering however I can, or am allowed to by law. :scrutiny:

I already checked the site, it doesn't mention this specific place. I'm going to go by the rules the convention center has posted online stating that CHL is ok. I just hope I don't have to defend my decision at any point. :)

If it is owned by the city then those signs have no legal effect. Just keep a good cover, you never know when an unwitting cop will try and give you a hassle about it.

I went. I volunteered. And I carried.
If you're able, go help out. I urge everyone to lend a hand regardless of your political leanings. I didn't see a single 30.06 sign and nobody hassled me. Concealed means concealed.

Did it stay concealed? Verbally too?
(good for you, for volunteering)

My CCW stayed concealed the entire time and I didn't mention a word about it to anyone there - exactly as I do day to day.
Quite honestly, I didn't fear for my safety in or around the building since there were so many LEO's and National Guardsmen working security detail. However, parking lots and traveling through downtown Houston is another story entirely - present crisis notwithstanding. I'll just say that I'm glad I was able to defend myself but that I didn't have to. :)
