Here ya go, Dave. I hauled out a bunch of the Remington target bbls that I've got stuffed a drawer and laid 'em out.

Both of the older TC's (Dad's and Mom's) have Cutts bbls on 'em so they fit in my safe. 34" "Long Tall Sally" is underneath. The next 3 are 30" bbls - 2 full, one mod. The last one is a 26" skeet bbl. I think there are one or two more at the folks' house. I'll try to get them when I go over to pick up the Model 70 National Match that the Old Man wants to give me :D

Thanks, Ed, them be purty. Nice wood on both.

Sometimes when schedules allow, we should do an 870 shoot. Maybe a round of SC, a round of skeet, a round of wobble, etc...

anapex has a TC. Norton has at least one Express......

Hmm....

The idea appeals to me, let's see how it goes.

BTW, did you know Remington made a few 36" and 32" barrels for our favorite pumps?

You know it's a long barrel when the sound of the muzzle report doesn't reach you until halfway through the rack... ;)

On a serious note, are you noticing a reduced report and blast with skeet loads out of that 34" barrel? I've never fired any shotgun with longer than a 28" barrel, and that felt LONG. (Most of my shotgunning has been with 24" or even 22" barrels, and a significant amount of it has been done with 20" barrels.)

From my experience,Matt, there's a notable difference between say 20" barrels and the long ones. With 3 30" barrels here, I'm in a position to tell.

Frankenstein's first barrel here is a nominal 21". With heavy3" goose loads, the blast is ferocious. Less difference noted with 1 1/8 oz loads on down. Shot it side by side with a ported Mossie 835 with 28" tube. That one was much louder.

I can tell when I'm sitting on the porch at the range if someone is shooting a ported gun.

I have seen 32" bbl for the 870 go on Ebay for $350 or so. I wanted it, but not that badly. I have been looking for a 30" for one of my 870s but no one wants to give them away, and I am cheap. Chances are that I wouldn't notice the difference over my 28" anyway. But when I do break down and get a 30" I think I'll buy a maple stock set from Wenig.

And I would like to shoot with yall, but won't drive to Md to do it. :D

Hmmmm

With one of those 36" barrels, ya wouldn't need any ammo for 'waterfowling'

...just swing that monster up and "Whomp 'em upside the head" :D
