Does anyone know where I can buy Under Armour shirts for less than retail? They're great for running, not so great for my wallet! :D

Generally, no place will discount UA gear. It must be part of their retailler agreement.

Your best bet is to find the UA Tactical gear, which is mostly duplicates their Heat and Cold gear lines but with subdued logos. You can find them for around $5 off per piece. Not a huge discount, mind you. Lightfighter.com has the tactical line.

What about those knock-off Under Armor products you see? I've seen some for like $15-20 for a shirt. Feels the same, but I guess the actual fabric blend ratio is a secret recipe. :)

Not UA, but Sierra Trading Post has had the best deals around on transfer-layer underwear for years. I've not bought from anywhere else since about....... 1990?

The old guys who hunt swear not by Under Amror, but by silk.

Now, they are given a LOT of razzing for wearing silk underwear. But...

Also not sure how the price compares to UA.

Just a thought.

Silk is contained in some manufacturers wicking shirts.

I use both brands at target, only difference I can tell is one seems thicker and different material blend.

Try to be roomates with collegiate varsity athletes. They get them for free and will usually trade them for a six pack of beer. That's how I got all of mine :D

Target is having a clearance sale on Champion C9 performance underwear. The "Dry" line is dual-faced fabric for wicking, and their "Compression" line appears to be similar to UA.

I have been wearing UA since well before it's logo made it as popular as Nike and their "swoosh." I have been wearing the tight-fitting heat gear under my equipment playing hockey three to five times a week, and washing it after every time I play for over three years. I have the same three sets of leggings and shirts. They held up so well to the repeated washing that I now wear the boxers every day at work under my scrubs, and I wear the socks when I play hockey.

UnderArmour is one of those things that still lives up to the old saying that you get what you pay for. It's expensive, and it's worth it.

FWIW, Dicks on-line store currently has a sale on UnderArmour. You don't pay any shipping on it.

I'm currently a student athelete, there isn't anything wrong with a student athelete getting them for free, and there's nothing wrong with a student athelete giving what they were issued but don't have to return to friends, but there is a big problem with "selling" it (for beer would count).

My suggestion? Become friends with someone on the Fork Union Military Academy Football team (it's a military highschool near zion's crossroads in VA, the middle of nowhere basically), and have him get you some. It costs them 5 bucks a piece, 15 or so for students because they are sponsered by Under Armour.

I my brother just got some, and compaired it to his walmart brand stuff and he says they preform about same. In my informal tests I have some some Starter Heat gear brand stuff and it preforms about the same as my UnderArmor stuff.

However TJ Max generaly has UA stuff cheaper then most places, sometimes they have sales on it and stuff.

Thats where my brother got his suff and he researched the stuff quite extensivly. Also check ebay. I found a Long Sleeve cold gear shirt can be had for about $15- $20 cheaper there then in the store.

UA has a lot of lines, more than just the compression stuff.

I always use the walmart stuff, IMO the same thing, who cares what the brand logo is. I can't see it anyway underneath my vest and uniform.

TJ Maxx does indeed have UA stuff for $15.00-20.00 a shirt. Not a huge selection, and you have to root around on the rack a bit, but it's pretty cheap there.

A buddy told me last night that he gets UA Loose Gear t-shirts at Marshall's for $12. Certainly cheaper than the $30 they want at Dick's.

Cabela's brand of underwear is worth checking out. Also I get a catalog from Campmor and they always have some great prices on performance type underwear. Also check out cycling and other sport sites and they will usually have some great deals.

I just picked up some generic brand shirts at Walmart for $8 each on clearance. Nearly identical to UA.

I tried the Walmart shirts as well. The only difference I can tell between them and the UA shirts is the UA shirts dont wear out as fast where my BUG on the side of my vest rubs. Other than that no real difference noticed comfortwise also alot cheaper.

+1
I cycle, run, snowshoe and have several undershirts. Got a couple from walmart, the low end brand. Hell I went on a 30 mile bike ride yesterday, it was 40*, and wore my cheap walmart baselayer. The only downside is that I can't wear it as a stand alone shirt, because its white and shows my nipples!
I've got a pair of the briefs, too, I wear them under my fleece tights which go under my waders when I'm fishing.

Silk, lycra blend, polyester blend, polypro are the materials you want to look for.
If you can get it cheap, Duofold is great! I've got some medium weight gear from them and its awesome!
