I need load date for 38 special, 140 gr Rainier Copper Plated, using either W231 or AA#5. Moderate loads are preferred.

Thanks,

Stinger

The only data that I can give you is for 140gr SJHP (Rem. bulk). 3.9 gr to 4.8 gr of W-231 and either CCI-500 or WSP. Giving you velocities of 496fps (SLOW) to 800fps from a 4" barreled S&W mod 10.

CAUTION: The following post includes loading data beyond currently published minumums/maximums for this cartridge. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Neither the writer, The High Road, nor the staff of THR assume any liability for any damage or injury resulting from use of this information.

I could find no load info, so I took what info I had for 140g plated, and subtracted 10%.

I'll give an update just in case anybody has a similar question in the future.

Ruger GP100, 4" barrel

AA#5 - 5.2 grains, 1.45oal

Results - I fired 3 rounds, 2 were squibs. They almost made it out of the barrel, but not quite.

Win231 - 4 grains, 1.48 oal

Results - I fired 2 rounds, one was a squib. It, too, almost made it out of the barrel, but not quite.

It looks like I have a few bullets to pull. :(

Regards,

Stinger
