I just heard that the Al Jazeera was attacked by hackers because it showed pics of dead American soldiers. Yeah! I knew that these computer geeks would come in handy sometime.:D

I don't think the U.S. would try too hard to find anyone who wants to do more of this to other anti-American insitutions. Hint, hint..;)

Actually IMHO al-Jazeera is one of the few news organizations that is actally investigating what is happening in this war, rather than being sat at CENTCOM bitching that they arent being told anything.

Yesterday it won a (deserved) award in London for its impartiality and the quality of its journalism, and many of the journalists it employs are trained by or worked for the old BBC World Service in the Arab service. Given that its disproved some of the wilder claims (the immediate fall of Umm Qasr, the "surrender" of the 51st Division and the "uprising" in Basra) and it provides an impartial Arabic viewpoint on the war. Besides, didnt all the western news channels show images of Iraqi surrendering? Shattered tanks?

Yesterday it won a (deserved) award in London for its impartiality and the quality of its journalism,...

Michael Moore won an Oscar...
Jimmy Carter & Yasser Arafat won the Nobel Peace Prize...

Prizes do not an objective journalist make...:scrutiny:

Yesterday on one of the cable news channels (I don't remember if it was fox, cnn, or msnbc), they reported that when translating a talk by Rumsfeld, whenever he said "coalition forces this" or "allied forces that," the aljazeera translator had him saying "occupation forces this" or "occupation forces that."

Think about how your average person over there would feel to hear Rumsfeld giving a talk on the progress of occupation forces.

Deliberate mistranslation designed to inflame sentiments doesn't say much for the "impartiality and the quality of its journalism."

Al Jazeera is NOT a journalistic enterprise, it is a propaganda organ, with not an ounce of credibility.

Anyone who thinks that they are "impartial" is suffering from severe cranial-rectal inversion.

IIRC, they were the ones reporting that V.P. Cheney was flying to Amman to talk his daughter out of going to Bahgdad as a human sheild -- his daughter is a mother of three that lives in D.C. -- the report was a total crock, invented by some nitwit in China, but reported on Al Jazeera as fact. Just one of many examples.

When they broadcast pictures of the dead American prisoners for days, that should tell you all you need to know about these villians.
