Why did it take so long to decide to knock out the Iraqi T.V.?

What were we thinking? Why did we allow Saddam to broadcast his propaganda for so long? I can't understand it, does anyone have a good reason why we would do this?

We should have knocked it out on the first day or two. We gave Saddam too much time to rally his troops and now it looks a little desparate to bomb it. Big mistake! We should knock out the power and all communication in Bagdad. This is the only thing they understand, if they can watch T.V. and relax on the sofa with an ice cold beer and a hot bowl of camel dung (or whatever the Iraqi snack food is), they won't take us seriously.

What difference does it make? CNN and the others (except Fox) are giving them all the support they could ever want! :fire:

1. The facility was protected by children on the premises who were supposedly in a "day care center." Taking it out would have been a PR disaster.

2. We have agents among Saddam's inner circle (Tariq Aziz, the Information Minister, etc.) who tipped us off that there were no children there at dark-thirty the other morning. A few seconds later, boom.

Not only do we not target civilians, we go to great measures to avoid them being collaterally harmed.

Yea for us, but this and other situations emphasize the depravity of the Saddam regime. It wants us to vaporize civilians, children, etc., to make big of it on the blissninny world stage.

My guess;

The network was being used for outbound intel from Baghdad. Maybe from the same source that tipped us off on the first night.

No proof behind that, just my suspicion.
