Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew what the requirements are to purchase an Air Rifle in Canada? I've looked all over, and can't seem to find a concrete answer.

If the rifle has a velocity of under 500 fps then there is no requirements under the firearms act.Over 500fps and it is concidered a firearm like any other rifle.PAL required.

I've got a registration on my Benjamin and the only way you get that is with a PAL. My 17 year old daughter bought a little Crossman that shoots about 300 fps and walked out of the store with it under her arm, they didn't even put it in a box.

When the new laws first came out there were RCMP that were assigned to try and push the guns that shot in the high 400s' over the 500fps line by using unusually light ammo or modifying the rifles.

"...Over 500fps and it is concidered(sic) a firearm like any other rifle..." Absolutely true. Since 1978, as I recall.
