Royalty vs. Serfs

Yet another example of seperate legal systems:
Teen who reportedly hacked into Paris Hilton's cellphone gets 11 months (http://www.cbc.ca/story/arts/national/2005/09/14/Arts/hacker_sentenced20050914.html)
Meanwhile, Sandy Berger only has to pay a fine for stealing and destroying classified documents.
So which is a greater threat to the nation, destroying classified documents or Paris Hilton's cell phone conversations?

Not exactly...
The charges included hacking into internet and telephone service providers, theft of personal information and posting it on the web, and making bomb threats to high schools in Florida and Massachusetts - all over a 15-month period.
For all that, eleven months is a relatively light sentence, IMHO.

He was a busy little boy. Assuming he can turn his talents to something productive, he will probably have a good life.

Preacherman - I missed the bomb threats. However, considering the tone of the charges, could this be blown out of proportion? I.e. the guy was joking about blowing up the school, or made a reference of "blowing the roof off the school" or such.
Even if this were a bona fide threat, Berger got off without a scratch.

I think it barely rises to the level of serious michief, but these are bad times we live in and his was a high profile case.

If you want to complain about the sentance for stealing documents go ahead, but what does that have to do with some kid phoning in bomb threats to his school?

Let's see; a former National Security Advisor makes what he refers to as "an honest mistake". Mistake? Sounds more like a deliberate act for specific and as yet undislosed reasons.
He steals classified documents - stuffing them in his pants, socks and where else - and then destroys or otherwise disposes of them. Interesting that he get's a fine only; but easily explainable. The criminals in both "parties" share the same political lineage, ideology and agenda and not surprizingly look after each others' interests. Even when they make, um, deliberate criminal "mistakes".
More interesting is, what were the document contents? What were the motives for stealing and destroying these documents by the National Security Advisor to the former President? We know they concerned the attack on the Pentagon building and demolishing of the WTC - and apparently that the content would of been of interest to the white wa ... I mean the "independent" 9/11 Commission".
Sandy - and George - ought to tell the American People what the big secret is.
