Last night I bought a DVD player. Opened the box and displayed for my amazement was the following warning:

"WARNING

Handling the cord on this product or cords associated with accessories sold with this product, will expose you to lead, a cheimcal known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.

Wash hands after handling."

lead on the cord? Where? It's been awhile since I bought a lamp, do they come with similar warnings? What happens if my cat chews on the cord? Will it give birth to frogs? I won't venture to guess how much this warning and the research that produced it added to the cost of my new DVD player.

Nope, every other state carries that same warning on leaded products, with the same wording. But evidentally, CA is the only state smart enough to know that lead is poisonious.

Haha- and do they ever share that knowledge!
Warning sticker heaven- I've never felt so safe!

(going to sleep now, gotta grab my CA-approved Nap Helmet first...)
