Got a M37 yesterday slight holster wear around the end of the muzzle. No dings in the grips with the left side being a little dull. Can anyone tell me when it was made? ser 3 646xxx with the airweight logo on the barrell and no +p mark. Got it for $309 I've been looking at them on Gunbroker and most of them go for around $350 so I think I did pretty good.

Is there a "J" in front of the serial number? If so, my book has the production date as between 1977 and 1978. If not, it could have been made some time in the late 60s.

Edit to add: those airweights are neat guns. I've got an M38 that practically disappears in the pocket.

Thanks Shear. There's no J in front of the ser #. They are neat I bought an Uncle Mikes pocket holster for it and even with the hammer spur draw from the pocket is fine from cargo shorts and Dockers. I just keep my thumb over the spur.

Sounds like an older Airweight, than. Great find!

It's always encuraging to hear that those aluminum-framed Smiths can last that long. I bet that M37 will give you years of service.
