Anyone ever heard or use these? I found them over on: NorthwestLoading.com (http://www.northwestloading.com) Right now they're running a deal that if you buy 5k bulletts or ammo (Zero brand only), you only pay shipping on the first pound. Sounds like a good deal to me, but I've never loaded this stuff. I've mostly been loading Rainer (sp?) .45 ACP 230gr FMJ or 200gr jacketed flat nose.

mpthole, I have a cyberfriend in Florida that uses Zero bullets and has spoken highly of them. Do a search for them and a place called Roze or Rose Distributing comes up as the major player in this line of bullets. I can also put you in cotact with my cyberfriend and he can pass on the details to you.

Meanwhile back at the ranch Saddam is now disguised as a pooltable as Tommy Franks prepares to rack up his balls. Chainsaw circa 2003

Zero are used by a lot of USPSA competitors. SO that should tell you something about their quality.

Wow! Thanks guys! :) I think I'll be picking some of these up and see how they work in my USPs.

mpthole,

Zero bullets are the bomb! They are by far the best bang for the buck. Far superior to ANY plated bullet.

I think that Northwest place you listed is running a good deal on shipping. However, they are charging to much for the product to begin with. Go to www.rozedist.com and get your gear there.

I used them in a mass reload in 9mm. I thought that they were as accurate as my match load and worked quite well.

Never used any of their bullets but I have a whole bunch of .357 mag brass I picked up at the range. It's been reloaded so many times I've lost count and still holding up

But maybe not "superior".

Anybody seriously compared Zero to Star. Both are jacketed bullets. I have used Star and been very satisfied with them. Price is usually better that Zero. I've never tried Zero though. So, back to my original question. Has anyone seriously compared Zero to Star???

No, they do not. I have been told they are working on one and may be up and running soon.

I've used star and zero interchangably and nearly exclusively for the past 3 or 4 years shooting uspsa. That's about an average of 6000 a year for me, they've all been of the 9mm/ 38 super variety, and honestly, I can't tell them apart at all.
They both work excellent, and are a great value.
I've shot everything from the expensive hornady, the DJ, those black polymer coated ones, laser cast, and Rainer lead safe, and i dont think you can get a better value from any of them than you can with either star or zero- and you may want to look at montana gold too, those are just as good.

Went to the Roze website. They list Zero new and reloaded ammo. Has anyone tried the Zero reloads ? Doesn't say with your brass/exchange either. Good prices.

So where have you kids been buying your Star bullets?

I use both the Star and Zero brand soft swaged bullets. They are equally accurate. It seems like the Star bullets may cut a little sharper hole in paper. However, the lube Star uses on their regular bullets is VERY MESSY. So you need to spend more and get the Star "special match".

I like dealing with Zero (Rose Dist.) so I buy my components from them. You can also buy the heads, primers and brass they use in their loaded ammo - allowing you to duplicate "factory" rounds. Ammo that I bought from them seemed to have Win 321 or HP-38 powder. My own reloads with HP-38 exactly duplicated their new ammo so I would guess this is correct.

The Zero jacketed bullets are extremely accurate; were talking one hole groups here. If you live in the south-east shipping is either very little or free. Just remind them to double wrap the boxes of bullet heads, if that's all you buy. I once had a UPS truck pull up to my door with a few thousand bullets rolling around on the floor. The loaded ammo is better packaged.

Zero will also buy back your empty brass for reload credits. For those that don't want to reload, this is a great deal. And they give you a very fair price.

The last time I checked Star didn't want to deal with end users directly unless you bought around 5-10K bullets at a time.

Star vs Zero == both make great bullets. Give Zero a call (1-800-204-1526). But you won't go wrong either way.

I get my Star bullets through T&T out of PA. They do a major set-up at the Richmond, Va showplace show every three months or so and I buy in bulk and save on the shipping.

38 Special 125 JHP $41.75
158 JHP $47.55

9mm 115 FMJ $40.70
124 FMJ $41.75

40 S&W 155, 165, 180 FMJ-FP $59.51

All prices are per 1000, out the door (on their little two cart):D

Glad to see that some folks know about Zero, a.k.a. rozedist.com; they're cheap, cheap, cheap, and very, very good. I'm just starting to reload, and will be ordering thousands of their bullets, which have performed very well for me in their reloaded ammo. Accurate JHPs for less than plated are available anywhere on the net.

I've bought star bullets from southern belle brass. I think the website is

www.southernbellebrass.com

Great stuff. I never ran into the coating mentioned. I've used .45ACP 189 JHP, 9mm 155 FMJ and .38 125 JHP.

Just for the record, Zero has been around for years, and they are located at:

ZERO AMMUNITION CO.
1601 22ND. ST, SW
CULLMAN, ALABAMA 35055

Somebody has already posted their toll free number. Good shooting!

A lot of the guys in this area who went to the National Police PPC matches during the 1970s used Zero ammo for the big matches, and loaded their bullets for practice.

My use of Zero bullets has been limited to he jacketed versions - - several thousand in .45 ACP and .40 auto. I've always been quite satisfied.

Best,
Johnny

Has anybody shot their reloaded ammunition ? Is it reliable ?
They sell their reloaded .38 special 158 gr SWHP +P for about the same price that I am paying locally for reloaded swc. If their swhp reloads are reliable, I am going to order a lot of them and use them at the range and in my ccw. I like to practice with the same ammo that I carry.

I have shot quite a few of the Zero reloads over the years and they have been 100% fine. Never a problem at all.

I've shot hundreds of their SWCHP +P; they're hot, accurate, and reliable. Entirely. I'd be comfortable carrying them.

They are, however, pretty smokey.

I shot a fair amount of Zero's .38 Special reloads in my Model 15. Good, cheap practice.

Southern Belle Brass has 230 gr. Star JHP for $65. Has anyone seen the profile on these bullets to compare them to some popular defensive bullets such as Gold Dot, Golden Sabre and HyraShok?? Might be worth shooting for reliability testing etc..

I'm with ialevy. I've been buying through Southern Belle Brass. They used to carry a lot more than they do now and both Star and Zero brands. I've tried both in FMJ TC .400 165 gr and .357 158 gr JHP and I can't tell a differance in quality between the two.
