Why is a stripped 308 AR lower $600+ and you can find 223 versions for around $100?

Is it really that much harder, more expensive, greater tool investment for the 308?

With millions of .223 lowers available they are going to be less expensive than .308 lowers.

Supply and demand.

Because they are worth it :D

just kidding. I'm not sure what the answer is, but I wish they were as cheap as those stripped Stag .223 lowers. And don't get me started on the price of mags.

Bah, no fair--I don't want to see it! :D

I wonder why Stag doesn't crank them out for $300 (or even $400-500...though I'd still prefer the lower number)

If it is truly the market at work, then it seems like an opportunity for one of the "little guys" to undercut the market and carve a place for themselves amongst the Bushmasters and Armalites.

even if they did make 308 ar style lowers that cheap, where you gonna find all the parts to assemble an upper? those are rare as hens teeth too compared to the " little guns". Personally I think the 6.8 SPC is going to take about half of the 308 ar marketplace over the next 3 years...

Yeah, that's a good point. DPMS website has them for almost $900! (I thought I saw some variant of the 308 AR for that listed in SGnews (complete).

I just picked up a stripped reciever last Saturday--I'm leaning towards building that into a 6.8.
