How does one remove the tangent sight from an Inglis Hi-Power?
Does it require bending the ears on the slide?

I don't think anything that drastic is required. I don't know right off hand how to remove it and I can't find anything on it. But you might try http://www.fnhipower.com/ if nobody posts an answer here. George

It can be a pain in the butt .
There is a very strong leaf spring underneath it . You have to apply quite a lot of pressure at the front of the sight leaf . Lots ! At the same time , after you detect that the sight was pushed down , pull rearward on the whole sight .
Good luck .
Almost forgot , why does it need to come off ?

I want to refinish it. Thanks for the advice on how to get it off. I would have never thought of that in a hundered years.

FWIW, that is the same way Mauser rifle and pistol (C96) sight leaves are removed. Note that the K.98k rifle, and a few others, have a cross pin that has to be driven out first.
