What are the two leading SIG Sauer compact pistols chambered in 9mm and 357SIG? Model names, cost, barrel length, overall size, recoil?

thanks.

I THINK the 239 and 229 would be what you are after.
239 is 3.6"/25oz bbl, 229 is 3.9"/28oz.

I think the 239 SAS with DAK trigger @29oz would be real nice!

That is correct; the 229 is the compact, and the 239 is even smaller than the 229. Both are chamberd in .40, .357sig, and 9mm.

In 9mm, the P225 is a classic. A bit hard to find, but worth it. Only slightly larger than the P239, but it has the best ergonomics of any pistol I've ever owned.

Don't the U.S. Navy SEALs use the P229 in 9mm?
Also, how is the recoil on a P229? (in 9mm) Does the P229 feel more like the thin, smooth 1911 or the chunky, oversized Beretta? (Okay, so I'm a bit biased ;) )

They use the 226.

i really like my p-229... very comfortable, recoil is not problematic at all... durable pistol. it is a little bulky to conceal w/o thinking about it - meaning it doesn't tuck away as nicely as a j-frame s&w, but... last weekend we went to the big city and my carry gun was a my 229 in a galco owb holster. i covered it w/ just a t-shirt and didn't have any troubles w/ it sticking out or whatever. just have to be a little more conscious of sitting positions, and remember not to bend over (must bend at the knee).

i am also a fan of the 239. a little more compact than the 229, and is very controllable during double-tap.

for everyday concealed carry, the sig 239 is the gun. for a do-it-all gun, the 229 is the gun. put some hogue rubber grips on the 229 and you'll think you've found pistol heaven.

best feeling pistols for me are the sig 229 or 226... i know a guy who ccw's the 226 every day, but i wouldn't do it. it is a big gun.

My P239 in 9mm is excellent and my P225 is not too shabby either. I like my P239 so much I'm considering buying another exactly the same eventually.
