I've been thinking about buying a new pistol and narrowed it down to 2.Walther P99 QA .40 cal or a Glock 20 10 mm.Any opinions or suggestions?

Got to give us some more info Pat. Is it to be your 1st handgun? What is its purpose? Plinking, outdoor sidearm or personal protection.

The .40 is a bit cheaper to shoot. The 10MM is much more powerful and fun to shoot. Ammo is pricey and not as accessible unless you reload. Both are quality pistols.

BTW, welcome to THR.

Unless your reloading , I wouldnt suggest the 10mm. Unless money is no issue at all what-so-ever and you can afford to buy a couple hundred rounds every week for practice @$40.00/100rnds.

You can practice more with the .40S&W: $14.95/100rnds.

More information on the intended use of the firearm would be helpful.

As we are about autoloaders here will move over.

I like 10mm but cost considerations unfortunately make this less than attractive.

I have a Smith SW99 which is really a P99 - I like it a lot and for a shorty it shoots darned well. My problem with it for carry tho is ergonomics. Very different mag realease and decocker.

Oh and yeah - more info on your projected purpose would help.

Since I have little to no use for a .40 short/weak, I'd vote the model 20! Now if you'd ask 9x19 Walther vs. 10x25 Glock, it'd be a tougher call and I'd need more info as to use. Sweet username... :)
