because she missed

A serial rapist may have tried to strike again, but a woman shot at her would-be assailant before he could attack her.

Why does your link go here --> http://www.microsoft.com/ instead of the story?

okay, I think I fixed the link (had one too many http://s in front of it)

Yup! Conventional Wisdom (CW) holds that 'gun control' means using both hands and hitting what you aim at :D

Give her an 'A' for effort, but a 'D' for execution.

Why do you think we always say "Practice, Practice, Practice and then Practice some more." ???

Maybe the close call will "cure" Mr. Serial Rapist. Then again maybe his next "victim" will have better aim.....

Well, no wonder the leftist extremists want to disarm the commoners!

Maybe she wanted to miss on purpose. Who knows?

Gunshots and blazing fire is sufficient for her to avoid being attacked, but she may not have the courage to kill. So she let the dirtbag go, and to her, this may be more favorable than having to turn on the light and face the fact that she killed somone. For her, it's better to scare the c**p out of him than to try removing blood stains from the carpet.

Then maybe she really tried, but the adrenaline surge was giving her really bad shakes.

When I was in the class on public speaking this last winter/spring, my personal opinion speach included a situation very much like this one except for the fact that the would-be victim was a college student in a dorm, armed against university policy, and she killed her assailant. The police agreed that she probably saved herself and how many future victims so much physical and emotion pain. I have a sister- she's married- and if she were faced with a situation like this, I'd rather have to help her clean blood stains out of the carpet than see her let a rapist get away with assaulting her and how many more. Actually, brother-in-law would probably help her with those stains.

True, although you'd be well advised to leave such a task to professionals, since a.) blood can contain pathogens, and b.) the professionals have the cleaning equipment and solutions to do the job right, or at least, better.
