The original ones looked like driftwood with Colt medallions.

I had someone say something about "bark" and the originals being nasty. The ones on mine are actually nice so now I'm wondering if they're original.

Worked with a Sheriff who had a satin nickeled CC, the grips were a reddish brown, with a slightly rough texture and a shiny finish.

The original grips as used on the early Combat Commander were sand blasted walnut, with a gloss finish and Gold Colt medallions.

This is a '79 gun so I don't know what's appropriate.

It's not in any way a collector's piece, so any grips will do.
