I found a pair of reproduction flintlock pistols at a friends gunshop, and he wants $150 for the pair. They are copies of about a mid-1700's British pistol, and were made in Japan. I know that this is very, very little information to go on, but...

Do you think they are priced right, a good deal, a rip off , or kinda marginal, etc.??

If it says Miroku, Japan I'd jump on um ... I have owned a Dixie Tennesse Mountain Poorboy Rifle for over 20 years and have shot the hell out of it. Great rifle won many a competition match with it, $595 at Dixie. If the are both funtioning and not rusted I get them even if it did just says Japan on them, for $150 a pair. I'm a sucker for a good price. If you are happy with them it's all that matters. What style pistols are they, like Revolutionary War, Dueling Pistols? Just curious.

I thought the same thing myself. A pair for $150, why not. As far as style, I am not quite sure what you would call them besides a pirate pistol  .

They aren't deuling pistols, Queen Anne's or Kentucky pistols. I'm sorry, I am not really up to snuff on my pre-cap and ball nomenclature; although I'll try to describe them.

They each have about a 9 or 10 inch round barrel of pretty good diameter, maybe .65 or .70 (totally guessing). The wood stock runs the entire length of the barrel and gradually curves down toward the end of the pistol at or less than a 45 degree angle. It has a brass butt cap and a brass cap at the muzzle, if I remember correctly. There are no sights, and the ramrod looks like a rather large nail.

Thanks for the opinion. I believe that I will buy them if he still has them on Tuesday. If I do, I will post a picture or two on this thread.

Possibly Tower or Mortimer. that should be a starting place for a search as to what they are.

It looks very similar to the Tower pistols when I did a quick search.

Tower pistols don’t spark well but can be made to work much better.
