.50 cal reloading press and die?

September 25, 2005, 10:20 PM
ok im a newbie to reloading, the main reason for my interests of reloading are because my next gun will be a .50 cal. and after shooting my 30-06 a lot this summer i figured out i would be cheaper and more effective to begin reloading. i need to know who makes a press and die set that will allow me to reload .50 BFG, and 30-06, since those will be my main reloads?

Not sure if this is what you wanted but I bought this kit and it works great, if you want to load the 50 bmg. I would go to grafs and sons and get it from there for150 bucks though.

perfect, do you suppose i could put a smaller die in that press to load up 30-06? but hey thanks for the quick reply.

You bet you can, it's easy and don't take no time at all. You'll love the setup.

Hey maybe you just sold me on a AR-50  Since i wont have to spend major bucks for a press, dies and casetrimmer.

RCBS also has a press for 50BMG, it is pricey in the pack form but I believe it includes everything you need to get started except a powder measure.

I assume (Damn! I should never assume anything :D ) you purchased two or three manuals with that press. You know...Like Lyman #48 or Speer #13.... :scrutiny:

As far as I know Hornady and Barnes makes 50 cal BMG bullets and I have both manuals.

I have the Hornaday setup and it is pretty sweet. The press is the same design as the RCBS but the die setup is superior IMO.

RCBS trim die is not used by many folks in the 50 BMG world. The dedicated case trimmer for the cartridge is much faster....I have a Lyman Acculine and it works pretty well. If you are planning on processing a LOT of cases (like for Ma Deuce) I'd look into a power trimmer.

Lots of good 50 BMG information over on Biggerhammer if you are looking for loading info and tips.
