Need a little info.
Does the Norinco 5.56 AK take standard AK mags or something special to the 5.56 round?
Also, current value of a fixed stock version in 98%?
Thanks in advance!

is it an 84S or Mak 90?
The Chinese .223 uses a special magazine, available in 30, 20 and 5 rds... but the Bakelite 30 rd AK 74 mags will work if you only load 20 rds.
You will likely need to replace the firing pin spring, as it's weak and CAN cause your rifle to double or SLAM FIRE on loading. ALWAYS keep it pointed downrange when loading it.
$600-700 for an 84S
$400-500 for a Mak 90

.223 AK mags are different afaik.
I've heard that you can use the 5.45 mags if you change the follower. Of all the AK's, .223 AK's have been the ones to exhibit the most problems (although still rare when you put it in perspective). I think it is due to people using converted magazines etc..
A proper, .223 AK magazine should work flawlessly. They are more rare than the other types of AK mags, but I'd try my best to get the real deal, rather than try and make a .223 mag out of something else.

Thanks for the info. I was afraid it would be an odd mag.
However, for what my bud has in it he can always get out of it fine and buy a standard AK.
Thanks again,

Look around and you can find them. I have read reports of people getting them in the $25-30 range. I've never actually seen any at that price, though.
I just bought one on gunbroker for $45 shipped.
The only problems I've encountered was the occasional double, as Dr. Rob noted. This came from little shavings of the primer getting stuck in the firing pin channel, and "trapping" the firing pin in the forward position.
I've started shooting Wolf exclusively in my 84S and the problem went away, presumably from their harder primers.
Anyone know where I can find a heavier firing pin spring?

All .223 Aks have different mags.Heres a list of differnet 223 aks
Valmet
Galil
Yugoslavian
Norinco
Polytech
Romanian SAR 3
Arsenal
Supposedly Bulgarian plastic waffle mags are adaptable to several of the above rifles.
I have a post ban Norinco and a SAR 3.They both work flawlessly.
The only mags that are easy to find and relativly cheap are the Weigers, bulgarian waffles and the Chinese Norinco.
If I didn't already own what I have I don't think I would bother with a .223 ak.Just get an AR for .223.
