I am looking for a new place to shoot. I have been a member of Fairfield Sportsmen's Assocation for a while and have tired of their 'No fun allowed" rules, anti-CCW attitude and rules, and now complete closure of the rifle range.

I would like to have a look at Miami Rifle & Pistol Club, but would prefer a casual look-see before attending the orientation class and signing up. Is anyone here a member who would be willing to let me meet you there at your convenience (when you were going there anyway) and show me around sometime in the next month or two?

I am not a member, however, I too am interested in joining. If there are any members that happen to be able to arrange a look see for Mr. Bowman, I'd like take advantage of that opportunity as well if Mr. Bowman doesn't mind.

I'm located North of Dayton, but haven't been able to find any suitable ranges in the area.

I despise formal shooting ranges. I don't like the rules, and I don't like shooting next to unsafe people.

That's why we bought a place in the country. With land. ;)

NoahFN:You're close to us. Come on over and shoot sometime.

I normally shoot at my parents, a bit further North out in the country. The drive is too much for the weekday after work, so I was looking for someplace closer. I intend to move up there if I can find employment nearby.

Molon Labe, where are you located at? I'd love to stop out and shoot. :)

Edited: Nevermind, I just read your location. I actually bought my truck from a dealer located in St. Paris. I'd still like to stop out and shoot though. :)

I lke "games" like trap, skeet, bowling pins, IDPA, etc. But I want to be allowed to take my 8 year old and give one-on-one, safe instruction or to illustrate the serious damage that can be done to a mellon or water jug by both a .22LR hollowpoint and something bigger at the plinking range. None of this is allowed at FSA -- and CCW is posted as prohibited except for sworn LEOs.

I have to work downtown, so I can't live (or afford property) far enough out to shoot in my back yard. :(

Noah, MR&P is east of Cincinnati. That would be a LONG drive from Tipp City. There is a nice range at Middletown, but they are heavy on the "sporting" thing (trap & skeet).

We actually live about 5 miles SE of Saint Paris. We shoot handguns, evil assault rifles, .50 BMG, full auto - everything. There's none of the B.S. that you'll find at public shooting ranges. And it's free. There are only Four Rules, and I'm confident you already have these memorized. ;)

I am also a member of the fairfield sportsmans assosciation. When my renewal came in the mail yesterday, it went straight to the trash can. This whole bit of closing the rifle range, and not making any progress to getting it re-opened a year later was the final straw. Now i just need to find a new place to shoot.

Actually they are impervious to bullets and make excellent backstops!

.50 BMG AND Full Auto...neither of which I have been priviledged enough to shoot. Sign me up! I've got the rules down. :) Feel free to shoot me an e-mail and let me know the next time you are going out. (noahfn@gmail.com)

I think when I read Miami, I was thinking Miamisburg...there is a range/club there that is near Dayton. My mistake.

Middletown Sportsman's Club - http://www.middletownsportsmensclub.com/

They are heavily into trap and skeet, but that also is their main source of income. They do host some large trap events. They also have SASS events, sporting clays, fishing lake, archery range and a rifle and pistol range. I join mainly for the rifle/pistol range, it's about $50/year. The rifle/pistol range is usually closed during major trap events and SASS events. The shooting stations are all covered, ranges are 25, 50, 75, 100, 150 and 200 yards. You won't find games like IDPA, bowling pins etc. They do have a friendly 1911 competition, military rifle competition, things like that. There is always a range officer around. Overall a safe place to shoot, just happens to be close for me. Worth the money. They also allow a local instructor to use the clubhouse for CCW classes.
