Looks like a chunk to lug around----but will definitely ruin their day---at night.

It's a gen 1+ which basically means no wandering black dots and the intensifier is "silent," so yeah, it's just a crappy 1st gen. But I think it'll work fine for shooting the critter thats been mauling the barn cats.

You'll have to wear high-heeled shoes to reach it. :)
Are you worried about flash? Does it have a flash cutoff? What did it set you back?
.45Guy
September 30, 2005, 02:22 PM
It does have the flash cutoff, unlike my earlier monocular/ruger standard model attempt. I ended up paying $325 with shipping from Ukraine. All I can think about is a lawnchair, a thermos of coffee, and whatever critters are hanging around the barn at night... And UPS just dropped off another package....

Foghorn, have you ever heard of a little town called Perry, OH? Or more exactly North Perry?

You must (1) not have much confidence in that scope or (2) must be a very fast runner or (3) must be hunting terribly slow coyotes because you apparently plan on running the bastids down and stickin' 'em.

Here's the 100 yard group, shot from the kneeling posistion. I'm a little disappointed in my performance, but hey, it works well enough.

Talk to me about cheek weld tho. Please.
For 3 bills and some change, looks like some sleepless fun filled nights ahead... and you're barn cats will see you as their personal nocturnal hero.
Where did you order from? How long did it take? Base/Attachment? Etc.

Talk to me about cheek weld tho. Please
didja mean 'chin weld'? :) Nice group, man!
.45Guy
October 1, 2005, 01:27 PM
Well, it's more of chin weld with it that high  As to where to locate them, either google falcon night vision, or troll e-bay. It fits weaver and pitcanny rails, and came with some supposed AK mount. I ordered my AR mount from Centurion tactical. Hope that helps. BTW, with the pinhole on the lenscap, it also works well in daylight!!

Here's the mount, three screws and you're good to go. They say it retains zero after being removed, but i have yet to find out.

This has to be the best investment I've made. Even in the barn (total darkness) with the IR the detail it shows is amazing. No coyotes yet, but one rather large raccoon  I'm sure the cats will be breathing easier.

so how is that NV scope holding up? Got any coyotes yet?

Well, I ran one over saturday night if that counts:D I haven't had much time to seriously test it, as my wife and I are in the middle of moving out of Milwaukee:D But for the most part I've been pleased with it's performance. After 200+ rounds, it has held zero, and my initial fears of the plate on which the reticule is projected coming loose have been unfounded. It works well on the range, and has taken 2 skunks, 1 racoon, and 1 possum. For the specific purpose I bought it, eliminating vermin in the barn, I can't argue with it's performance and price. I finally snapped a few pics through it, please undersatnd theat the camera adapter I have doesn't work with my digital camera, so image quality is lower than it actually is. (It's not easy holding the scope in one hand and the camera in the other while attempting to focus!)

Where did you get it from? Ruskie optics are usually good quality, im having very good luck with a ruskie scope on my rem 700 pss.

I bought it direct from the Ukraine, via e-bay.
