Went to see it last night with my wife, and we really liked it.

The story of a formerly violent man who has changed his way of life, but is forced back into it.

It is well written and acted. It moves a bit slow at times, but it sets the mood for the 'new' man's way of life - rather bland. That is, except for sex with his wife, which although not too graphic, it is well portrayed: Hot, but not offensive to the viewers - in my opinion.

The violence consists of a handful of segments that last a few minutes and are more or less to be expected with the story.

*** MINOR SPOILER ***
The movie is gratifying in that what happens each time is exactly what you would want to see happen - no punches pulled.

Enjoy!

Alex

I saw it yesterday as well, with my sister no less, so the sex sense were a little suprising. The violence there, I am somewhat remind of pulp fiction in that respect.

I thought it was well done, though the sex seemed a bit gratuitous.

Slow, predicitable, and short on real plot development

Ed Harris would be the spoiler for me not seeing the movie. I'm done financing Hollywood leftists.

What kind of gun did William Hurt have in his desk at the end of the movie? I didn't immediately recognize it... Does anyone have any ideas?

That movie was pretty fierce. We actually walked out about 1/3 the way through the movie. That was some of the most 1-dimensional and linear scriptwork I have ever heard and some acting of the same caliber.

Don't see it.

KAHR 9MM have been used in several flicks and numerous TV shows http://www.kahr.com/new_movie.html

Wonder what they got anything for "product placement?" Only someone of our proclivities would recognize it.

Click on the addy..if it's not explained there, when Shaft (Sam Jackson) had to turn in his service piece and badge..he used his personal weapon (KAHR) for the remainder of the flick.

I admit to having read the spoiler.

I'm a little disturbed by the concept, pushed by the title, that only someone with, "a history of violence," is capable of fighting back against bad guys.

I thought the William Hurt gun was a two tone Walther P99.

I liked the movie. It's not your typical high-octane action film though. It's more nuanced and introspective. There are violent scenes but it is a drama about how violence disrupts your life and the behaviour of people around you. If you're looking for something fast paced, this movie may not satisfy.

I thought the gun was a Taurus 24/7 for a minute but it had the blacked out barrel... Was it a 99?

Deavis, I thought it resembled a Taurus too. I don't know what that thing was... Gabe, isn't the P99 more stylish than the gun in the movie?

Unsure.

In the opening scene of this overly stylized flick..does anyone recognize the semi-auto with the silencer (sp?) used out on the balcony? I plan on watching the rest today... It appears it might have a variety of weapons, if you can get past the "look" of the film.
