Can anyone tell me if S&W ever made a DAO version of it's 3913? If they did, what model number was it, and does anyone here have any experience with one? Was it reliable, and accurate? Also, how was the trigger? Finally, did S&W ever make an all steel (not alloy frame) compact to mid-sized, single-stack, DAO 9mm autoloader? Thanks.

3954 (Blue) and 3953 (Stainless) are DAO versions of the 3913. Discontinued medium frame single stack steel 9mm's, that were introduced I believe in the early 80's, are 539 (blue) and 639 (stainless).

I have and carry the S&W 3953 often, it is a very desirable concealed carry handgun. The double action trigger is cocked half way, internally by the slide, and the double action trigger pull is much lighter than the double action trigger on the 3913. A very safe and shootable handgun. 120% reliable.

Thanks for the replies. I'm very interested in the 3953. How long and what weight would you'll estimate the trigger to be? Also can you use the 3913 mags and recoil spring in the 3953.

can you use the 3913 mags and recoil spring in the 3953.

Mags and recoil springs interchange. A note on the mags: Don't get the TSW magazines, they're too short. I'm not even sure that applies to all TSWs. My 3913TSW has mags that hold one less than standard 3913 mags.
