They would REMAKE the Star PD - maybe with improved metallurgy. now, someone may say, ooops, there are plenty of shorty 1911s out there - but I think a PD remake would really do well!

Yeah, with today's technology, they could make it hammerless (snag-free), use a polymer frame, 10-rd. mags with 13-rd. backups as an option, easy-to-work-on by the consumer (no gunsmith's, ever!). Workmanship would probably be best using Austrian workers. They're very precise.

I agree with brian...and I think that the BM-based frame and slide would be a natural for the .45 GAP round. May require a little extra beef on the top-end, but the grip frame is the right length and the width will accomodate the fat little shorty cartridge. Just leave the MIM internals out, please.

But...Don't get your hopes up. The new drop-tests that many states demand would require some redesigning of the pistol that would possibly have an adverse effect on the reliability.
