Suicide Bomber Kills 5 in Northern Iraq
Saturday March 29, 2003 9:50 AM
IN THE IRAQI DESERT (AP) - A suicide bomber killed five Americans in an attack north of the city of Najaf, a U.S. military officer said Saturday.
Capt. Andrew Wallace said the victims were part of the Army's 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Divison.
The attack occurred at a U.S. checkpoint on the highway north of Najaf.
A taxi stopped close to the checkpoint, and the driver waved for help. Five soldiers approached the car, and it exploded, Wallace told Associated Press Television News on Saturday.
It was not immediately clear precisely when the incident occurred.
U.S. Central Command in Doha, Qatar, confirmed the incident but had no other details.
The suicide bombing Saturday was the first against U.S. and British forces since the invasion of Iraq began.
There have been warnings of suicide attacks in Iraq.
Iraqi dissidents and Arab media have claimed that Saddam Hussein has opened a training camp for Arab volunteers willing to carry out suicide bombings against U.S. forces in Iraq.
Terror mastermind Osama bin Laden also urged Iraqis last month in an audio tape aired on Arabic television to employ the tactic against the Americans. Other Arab militants also spoke about suicide missions against the invading armies.
Such suicide attacks are common by Palestinian militants in targeting the better equipped Israeli army during the uprising on the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Naji Sabri was asked in a mid-March television interview, whether Iraq would use the tactic of suicide attacks against the invading American forces.
``We have prepared ourselves for all kinds of war. For many months, tens of thousands have volunteered to serve as martyrdom-seekers (suicide attackers) in the battle with the American enemy,'' he said. ``We trained them and readied them. We have prepared ourselves for street fighting and desert fighting.''

Dont these jerkoffs have a vote on the Security Council or some other spot in the UN?
from the article...
He warned that Syria could be the next target of Washington
Well with that kind of attitude how would that surprise them?
They think they can threaten us, suicide bomb us, supply our enemies in a time of war and think that we will just over look that??? Just wait till we are stomping their asses into the sand, they'll be crying and whining about "western imperialist aggression" and how they did nothing to provoke it. yadda yadda yadda... this **** makes me sick.... I hope that GWB has balls to stick it out and see this to its end.

Lone, not a war on Islam, but a war on the tyrants of the East. For thousands of years they have boiling out of God's Monkey House and attempting to destroy us. Now they are back at it.
We would prefer not to deal with them, but now we must. We have always prevailed in the past, we will win now. The good thing is, like raccoons, after we kill a few of them and pike their heads, they rest will scurry off and not bother us (for a while).

We won't invade Syria. We'll just tell the Israeli's that we've found a place for the Palestinians to call home. They just have to take out the trash, first.

Right or wrong, a lot of people in that part of the world think they have reason to fear the US. They also think for some reason that the US supports their enemise and harbor thoughts like, We won't invade Syria. We'll just tell the Israeli's that we've found a place for the Palestinians to call home. They just have to take out the trash, first.
And we are so surprised when they act the way they do.

We should flatten Syria.
Then put in a Wal Mart and ruin all of the middle east with price rollbacks. :D
I really don't care what the unwashed barbarians of the world who repress their women think of the US, I really don't.
I guess that makes me a baddddddddddd person, but I don't care about that either.
I don't give a rodents patooty what religion they are.
If they are violent towards us then they need to die.

Malone, the same silliness was said during WWIII, that the US "forced" a nation to becomes communist. God's Monkey House already hates us. The hated us long, long ago and they will hate us tomorrow.
For thousands of years the East has wanted to destroy the West. How would you stop them from carrying out their destructive agenda?

We are everything they say we are. And more. Much more. A damn good reason for them not to mess with what doesn't concern them, I'd say.
America's a very "schizophrenic" culture, and when we flip we really flip. It may be because we have to sublimate so much to be history's greatest humanitarian culture that we are so dangerous when done wrong. Can you blame us if we also have a nasty streak when riled? Being "good" is rather exhausting. It is true we are aggressive; that is exactly why we have accomplished so much.

"DEBKAfile’s War Diary covers Uday Hussein’s army of guerrilla-suicide terrorists who follow al Qaeda’s former use of pickup trucks for terror in Afghanistan and Palestinian suicide tactics against Israel.
Their most lethal weapon is the Russian-made Kornet AT-14 wire-guided anti-tank missile that can penetrate up to 1100 mm of steel armor at a range of 3.5km
It was supplied from Belarus through Syria. Putin’s possible involvement is under US intelligence scrutiny"
From that reliable .. unreliable source:
http://debka.com
"1100 mm" WOW That is penetration.

You know, before this is all over, it might just become a war on islam after all...
Well, I'd like to think that it's not a way on Islam but if there comes a time where we are currently engaged in war with, say, more than three Muslim nations, it might seem like that to countries that could make a difference like Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, India, Pakistan etc...
But when you're dealing with mealymouthed cowards like Hussein and al-ASAD paying families for suicide bombers and asking people to kill themselves under the guise of Jihad, they're kinda bringing it on themselves. These little countries like Iraw and Syria shouldn't be much of a problem to deal with... I just don't really look forward to Indonesia getting more actively involved.

They do, in fact, have every reason to fear us. We stand for Freedom and Democracy. The people of the Middle East want same.
All those tin-pot dictatorships, and 15th centry feudal regimes should be shaking in their boots. A change is gonna come.
They're frustrated on two points-
1. The stagnation of Arab/Muslim thought & influence - they haven't been worth a heap of flapdoodle since the Renaisance (sp?). There are a lot of reasons for this, not the least of which is the rise of Muslim theocratic fundamentalism, turning inwards, and ethnic arrogance; which has propagated massive illiteracy (keep 'em ignorant so they can't question) in general and among the women in particluar, and
2. Frustration with the West that continues to prop up corrupt & oppressive monarchies and/or dictators. Much of the Middle East admires (and is thoroughly jealous of) the democratic freedoms we take for granted, and they are thoroughly pi$$ed at us for supprting the above mentioned corrupt dictators and monarcies for our oil based lifestyle, that denies it to them.
Don't believe me? Name ONE Arab democracy, or even an open society. Tell me why so many young Arab/Muslims want to live anywhere else but where they're from?
There is no happiness here, or easy answers. Welcome to the swamp, Tarbaby, it's gonna be a while. JMNSHO.

Malone LaVeigh:
And we are so surprised when they act the way they do.
Me:
Yes, Malone, actually, I am. How many times has the US, through the 'influence' of money, threats of support withdrawal, etc., made the Israeli's stop just when they were in a position to resolve their (fill in the blank) Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestinian, Iraq, etc., 'problems'?
Why did we not invade Iran in the seventies?
Why did we not invade Libya in the eighties?
Why did we bomb the bejesus out of parts of the former Yugoslavia a few years back?
Why did we not do what we are doing now, in 1991?
Why do American oil companies not 'own' oilfields throughout the ME as we speak?
Why do we care about 'civilian' lives and 'infrastructure' damage in the current conflict at all?
It is only through the desire of many administrations, and the citizens of this country, to not interfere too much, that many of these dictatorships, fiefdoms, and theocracys continue to exist at all. Yes, I am surprised, disgusted, and PO'd they hate us. Aren't you?
