The following is a list of plots, casings, and infiltrations thwarted by the U.S. government in recent years.

10 Plots

The West Coast Airliner plot: In mid-2002, the United States disrupted a plot to attack targets on the West Coast of the United States using hijacked airplanes. The plotters included at least one major operational planner involved in planning the events of Sept. 11.

The East Coast Airliner plot: In mid-2003 the United States and a partner disrupted a plot to attack targets on the East Coast of the United States using hijacked commercial airplanes.

The Jose Padilla plot: In May 2002 the United States disrupted a plot that involved blowing up apartment buildings in the United States. One of the plotters, Jose Padilla, also discussed the possibility of using a "dirty bomb" in the U.S.

The 2004 UK Urban Targets plot: In mid-2004 the United States and partners disrupted a plot that involved urban targets in the United Kingdom. These plots involved using explosives against a variety of sites.

The 2003 Karachi plot: In the spring of 2003 the United States and a partner disrupted a plot to attack Westerners at several targets in Karachi and Pakistan.

The Heathrow Airport plot: In 2003 the United States and several partners disrupted a plot to attack Heathrow Airport using hijacked commercial airliners. The planning for this attack was undertaken by a major 9/11 operational figure.

The 2004 UK plot: In the Spring of 2004 the United States and partners, using a combination of law enforcement and intelligence resources, disrupted a plot to conduct large-scale bombings in the United Kingdom.

The 2002 Arabian Gulf Shipping plot: In late 2002 and 2003 the United States and a partner nation disrupted a plot by Al Qaeda operatives to attack ships in the Arabian Gulf.

The 2002 Straits of Hormuz plot: In 2002 the U.S. and partners disrupted a plot to attack ships transiting the Straits of Hormuz.

The 2003 Tourist Site plot: In 2003 the United States and a partner nation disrupted a plot to attack a tourist site outside the United States.

5 casings and infiltrations

The U.S. government and tourist sites tasking: In 2003 and 2004, an individual was tasked by Al Qaeda to case important U.S. Government and tourist targets within the United States.

The gas station tasking: In approximately 2003, an individual was tasked to collect targeting information on U.S. gas stations and their support mechanisms on behalf of a senior Al Qaeda planner.

Iyman Faris and the Brooklyn Bridge: In 2003, and in conjunction with a partner nation, the U.S. government arrested and prosecuted Iyman Faris, who was exploring the destruction of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. Faris ultimately pleaded guilty to providing material support to Al Qaeda and is now in a federal correctional institution.

2001 Tasking: In 2001, Al Qaeda sent an individual to facilitate post-September 11 attacks in the U.S. U.S. law enforcement authorities arrested the individual.

So the Gov. stopped a few terrorists, big deal! There are far more important things going on in the world. Bush didn't nominate a SCOTUS candidate from an Ivy league school, let terrorist detainees have panties put on their heads(oh the horror! :uhoh: ), also Nick and Jessica are about to break up.

Wow... we have been 100 percent successful at preventing all attacks since 9-11.

I do not put much faith in this list.

George W. Bush ... are you so heartless as to destroy the matrimonial joy that was Nick and Jessica? Truly, you are the most heartless monster of all.
I do not put much faith in this list.
Me either. Terrorists are dumb but even they aren't that stupid. By their nature, they hit us where we're weak, not where we're strong. With everybody's police forces and his brother's intel agency looking out for swarthy airline passengers with nail clippers, does anybody buy the idea that the same folks have really kept trying to hijack airliners to crash into things?

I don't doubt that some people out there might still try to hi jack airplanes, but I would doubt they are part of al qaeda.

That is sad. Jose Padilla? Good Lord...If this Admin reached any further, it would dislocate its metaphorical shoulder.

What?! Nick and Jessica are on the rocks? If those two can't make it, what hope do the rest of us have? :(

If these plots are all like the Padilla case, we're screwed...

Meanwhile, the FBI fights a war on porn.

Good for them, and they've been working the case of the murdered VCU student. One man is in jail for having movies on a computer - movies of adults having sex with 1- and 2-year-olds. What's your point, that they should drop everything except what you think is important?

Don't forget, he made that hurricane hit New Orleans as a way to get back at black people.

Look at most of the replies. This type of article posting without much if any comment is just bait for more stupid Bush bashing, immediately veering off from the real subject. There must be some medication for this.

I don't know, but I'd like to find out!

Oh no, not more stupid Bush bashing. How can it be - he's such a grand leader. When will it stop?

Reads a little empty to me. Hijacking airliners? I doubt we’ll see a successful hijacking of an American airliner for another generation or two. Padilla may have talked about a dirty bomb, but al Qaida obviously doesn’t have the resources to deploy one.

Oh, and we prevented bombings in the U.K.? Really?

There are so many easy ways for terrorists to hurt us. The fact that they haven’t speaks volumes about their resources, planning, and dedication.

As it is, all they have to do is yell out "BOO!" over a cell phone and we go into panic mode, costing us millions in lost tourist revenue.

Pretty sparse on details, that list...especially if you consider Padilla "a major terrorist plot" for just talking about a dirty bomb...and no bomb was found.

Nice when you can write your own score card, ain't it?....

ah so how tall is Jessica?

Remember, it's best to start measuring from the bottom up...

Just make sure she never talks. You'll lose interest very quickly and likely start praying for the sweet release that only death can bring.

"When will it stop?"

When H. Clinton is elected I'd guess.

Speaking of Ms. Simpson, I saw her perform at a Redskins' game a few weeks ago - I didn't know she could belt out a tune like that. She was about 100 feet away and it looked to be 100% live.

10 (alleged) terrorist plots.

Of those, only 3 were actually against the US...

Of those, 2 involved airplanes which was way too predictable to have any hope of success...

The last one was Jose Padilla, a borderline retarded gangbanger who wanted to blow up a dirty bomb and spread uranium, only he had no explosives and didn't know that low grade uranium is only slightly more dangerous than lead.

So basically we could have spent the money that's gone into DHS on paying off the deficit and the only down side would have been two failed hijackings and a very slight elevation in lifetime risk of cancer for people who were right around the dirty bomb. (assuming El Cholo didn't blow himself up first)

Rah rah go W go  :neener:

Don't forget the super secret operation that shot down Santa's sleigh. It seems the old guy was about to unleash weapons of mass destruction. The red suited commie (Free stuff for everyone!) had recently converted to Islam.
