Barrel Rattle...

Greetings!

I shot my Ruger P345PR for the first time today and it was a blast(no pun intended).

After cleaning and reassembling the pistol I noticed that the barrel rattles noticeably when the slide is racked and locked in place with the slide stop.

Is this just part of the 'Camblock' design or did I reassemble it incorrectly?

I never noticed the rattle while shooting it, but they may be a product of having my earplugs in. You can't really feel the rattle, but it is audible.

This is my first .45 and Ruger pistol so I am unfamiliar with their respective designs other than theoretically.

Thanks in advance,
-GM

When the slide is locked open the barrel should rattle a bit. looseness aids reliable feeding. When the slide is forward in battery it shouldn't - or at least only to a very small degree. The real question here is, "how well does it shoot?" If you are satisfied with how the targets look the rest is moot.

Thanks for the info, Fuff.

I didn't think it was a problem considering the 1911s I've shot 'rattle' much like my Ruger.

However, I haven't shot a .45 in almost ten years -- 1911, Ruger or otherwise -- so I thought I'd be safe and ask.

Btw, she shoots wonderfully. It was damn windy today here in Houston, though.

-Thanks alot
