I have a new Savage Model 10FP which seems to be a fine rifle. It came with a Simmons Pro Hunter, 3x9x44 scope on it. Unfortunately (finances, sigh) I am probably going to have to get rid of a nice Savage Model 16, a SS bolt action .223, skinny barrel, that has a Swift brand 4x12x40 scope which seems to be as nice or nicer than the Simmons. And the subdued finish on this scope matches my 10FP better than the shiney black of the Simmons.
I cannot find anything so far on Swift scopes. Who makes them and are they any good? Also, it has an adjustable front piece which allows you to dial in the yardage to your target. What are the pros and cons to this arrangement?
I am considering switching scopes so I need some help determining which I should keep on the 10FP and which I should sell with the 16.
