Where are Sig Pistols Manufactured?

Hello all. I hope this is an easy question but I have little experience with Sig products. I see pistols marked "Exeter, New Hampshire" and was wondering if they were manufactured there or in Germany and then imported. If they are made here, when did the German imports stop and American manufacture begin? I am referring to Sig 220, 226, 229, 245's.
Thanks
Bob

My P226 says it was made in West Germany, which of course doesn't exist anymore. It also says Exeter, NH on it which is where it is importered to I believe. I believe my P226 was made in 87 or 88.

My SIG P232 was made in Germany a few years ago. SIG USA is located in Exeter.

Figuring out where some of the Sigs were made is tough. Some parts as well as whole pistols are still made in Germany. For awhile they were shipping all the parts for the 226 and 220 to the states for assembly. Now I think all the stainless slides are machined here is the states. I have heard rumors that Sig is still getting most barrels from Germany but who really knows.

Greeting's All-
I have a 1990 model SIG-SAUER P228 9m/m made in West Germany. It has the German proof house marks beneath the barrel. The P228 was not even
introduced until 1989; and this one was imported into Herndon, Virginia.
Also, I have a 1995 .45 caliber SIG-SAUER P220A made in West Germany.
It also has the German proof house markings; but was imported into Exeter,
New Hampshire.
FWIW, SIGARMS a subsidary of SIG-SAUER is located in New Hampshire.
For instance, P229 frames are still made in Germany, but the stainless
slides are made in Exeter, NH and the gun is assembled in the states.
P220's I believe, are still made in Germany; although the .45 ACP is an
American cartridge. Go figure~ :D

Good question. My 229 says frame made in Germany but also says Exeter, NH. My 2340 which has a polymer frame is stamped "frame made in Switzerland" but is also stamped Exeter, NH US. Don't really know where they are machined or assembled.

SIGArms which used to be known as SIG-Sauer resulted after a merger of the Swiss company SIG and the German firn of J.P. Sauer & Sons.
From the beginning some were made in Switzerland and some were made in Germany.
Nowadays, depending on the model all or part can be found with parts made in Switzerland, Germany or the US.
For example all of the parts of the GSR 1911 pattern pistols are made in the US. But noe of the parts are made by SIGArms. Just assembled by them in Exiter.
By federal law all foreign produced firearms must bear the name of their US affiliate or the importer on the frame.
